In 2011, following my mother's breast cancer diagnosis, I founded "Hope is a Cure for Breast Cancer: Education & Awareness." This platform was born from the realization that battling breast cancer requires more than just medical treatment; it needs hope.
Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women in the U.S., and it struck my own family with my mother and grandmother both being diagnosed. Driven by this personal experience, I've dedicated my efforts to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Since 2011, I have raised over $180,000 by partnering with organizations like Susan G. Komen, the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, and Zeta Tau Alpha.
My advocacy work includes serving as Think Pink Chair at the University of Tennessee, where I organized numerous fundraising events, and as Relay for Life Event Director, overseeing events that raised $98,000. I've also traveled the state as Miss Sullivan County and Miss Johnson City to promote breast cancer awareness and have acted as a national social media influencer for Susan G. Komen.
I currently serve on the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama's Junior Board.
Through personal experiences, including my own scare in 2013 and my grandmother's diagnosis in 2019, I've seen the power of early detection and hope. Despite the challenges, including a scare in 2022, I remain committed to educating others about self-breast exams, early detection, and the strength found in hope and positivity.
Breast cancer remains a significant challenge, but through education, awareness, and community support, we can make a difference. Together, we are stronger, empowered, and committed to fighting this disease.
